These are the links to Walkout Tool-kits that you may use if you want to plan your very own walkout.
For those who wish to start their own Walkouts, here is a sample blueprint of the Agenda. Feel free to edit it to fit what you want to do for your school.
The Walkout Plan:
Date: April 19th
Walk Out:
Before:
Student Leaders of different racial, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and people who are in optional and traditional schools (if it applies to that school) go to principal to discuss goals of walkout and collaborate with principal on logistics i.e. testing schedule, transition announcements, staging area, location for program, etc. This must be mandatory.
Principal communicates to teachers in advance what to expect so no adverse action is taken on the day.
10am-10:17am:
17 minutes of silence announced on intercom and youth organizers at school read Walk Out declaration on intercom and invite everyone to participate in non-violence walkout at 1pm at the nearest field and that there will be no repercussions as long as their code of conduct is followed and about lunch option to get a sack lunch and come participate in their recommendation collection method (Die-In, Chalk-It-Out, or Sign-Making) and be part of telling SCS their experience and their needs in school to be met. Students will sign the Declaration with their names, numbers, and emails.
Lunch Time:
Students have the option of getting a sack lunch and going outside and participating in recommendation action. This must be announced at lunch by a youth leader.
1pm-2pm:
All students who want to walkout go to the designated area. Students run own program. No adult interruptions on the mic; youth will be leading these activities.
At time outside of school:
Students carry on with programming (workshops)once school is dismissed with a committed set of student activists who create recommendations. SCS will find a way to get transportation (buses) for all students who need it.
